About us

First and for most let’s talk about how I came up with the brand name "ÙNÌTEinSwag."

I was pondering on what word to use but could not come up with anything that means a lot to me. Initially, I was able to come up with phrases that ended up being too long or did not have any impactful meaning to me. I ran this idea by a friend and she gave me a list of words and among them I picked Unite. From there on everything starts falling into places like a puzzle. I was able to connect the word Unite with one of Ghana's wisdom symbols (unity) which pretty much describes what I am trying to build through fashion. The symbol used here implies the unity between humans. It is used here as a reminder that unity is essential to people who want to be strengthened. And I think the minorities would agree that they want to be unite with the rest of the majority. This could not be far from the truth considering the current state of the world, not just in America but all over the world.

After finding the prefer word (Unite) I simply just add this two words "in swag" to it to make it one word "UniteinSwag.Just like music brings us together, fashion equally does that as well. Since fashion is world-wide, rather than personal, it can tell us a lot about how people within certain societies view and relate to one another. Most of the time we see fashion uniting people. And because fashion is something external that we put on, we wear our commonalities on our sleeves.

Fashion can work in very surreptitious ways. You can be taking a regular walk in the park, gym, or grocery shop and notice someone’s T-shirt, pants, shoes, or bag, and from that alone, you may be able to declare what type of style that person has. Maybe one day you meet a person who has the same T-shirt as you. That little T-shirt can trigger an entire conversation. And from there on you might recognize that you and that person have more things in common than you thought.
